I am her Apprentice

Hello, I am Jinx, Zatanna Zatara's young apprentice. We of course are heroes, and good ones at that. If you do bad, you better be ready to face some serious magic.

Looking at the boy with a sly grin, Jinx tipped her hat and bowed. “It is a pleasure to meet you.”

“As it should be. One should always be pleased when meeting royalty, girl.”

Rising up, she smirked and took a stride around the boy. “Hmm, royalty? Is that so? Well, in that case I should make sure to keep manners, huh?”

“Yes, you should.” Schrei said, clicking his tongue. “Respect is something that I demand after all.”

“Pff- well,” Leaning up to his ear, she smirked wickedly. “I don’t give respect to just anyone.” Plucking the string of his eyepatch, she pranced back around in front of him. “You never did tell me your name, Eyepatch.”

Schrei’s face went from calm and arrogant to annoyed and angry as she pluched the string of his eyepatch. “You may address me as Schrei Tod, and you will not touch my patch again.”

Sighing, she jutted out her hip and rested her hand on it. “Fine, fine. I was only messing around. You can’t blame a girl for being curious.” Eyes darting over to him from inspecting her fingernails, she smiled. “I am Jinx, but I don’t mind being called Lucky by some…”

Schrei rubbed his temples, trying to make his general annoyance retire as she spoke. “Jinx. Why would you name yourself after a curse?” He asked, his voice blunt as he slowly opened his eye to stare at her.

Laughing halfheartedly, she rolled her eyes. “Simple, I have a knack for magic and karma is one small aspect of them all. If you have a problem with it, then by all means suggest something else!”

“Magic you say?” Schrei asked, her statement piquing his interest. He sat up slightly, his single eye watching her. “What do you know about magic, girl?”

Smirking, she muttered “I nommus a riahc,” causing a seat to materialize behind her. Sitting down, she crossed one leg over the other. Her outfit was one of her usual outfits, at similar look of her mentor’s. A tuxedo one piece, tights and coattails was all brought together with her signature hat. “I am simply a stage magician.” Smirking, she knew that was a lie, but messing with the boy- well that was pretty fun.

Schrei watched, his face not surprised as a chair appeared for the girl to sit in. “Tricks at best. You are a performer, not a magician.” He rolled his shoulders and stood from his seat. Without looking at his chair, the Prince said “Surge thronum meum~!” His voice commanding as he snapped his fingers. His chair suddenly transformed, building onto itself until an elaborate black throne with a cushioned seat remained. Without a word, Schrei sat, crossing his legs before he leaned into the throne. “That is real magic.”

Scoffing, she pouted and rested her chin on the palm of her hand. “Well, I’ve only trained a while…” Sighing, she slumped in her seat, he knees sliding away from each other. “It’s real magic I assure you, I just use it to perform.” Maybe she could make her chair grow like that..with practice. “So you’re a magician too? Hmm, wouldn’t have figured your mind was open enough for it…”

Schrei couldn’t help but roll his eye at her comments, clearly un-impressed by her knowledge. “Then train harder, because what you are calling magic, I call parlor tricks.” He said, getting comfortable in his throne. “Open mind? What kind of idiot told you that you need that to practice the mystic arts?”

Glaring over to him with pink eyes, her eyes all but formed daggers to him. “My teacher is training me the way she knows. Zatanna is a powerful sorceress.” Sighing once more, she shook her head. “Not my fault I don’t know more…” He was making her doubt her mentor, and she kind of hated it. It wasn’t an enjoyable feeling at all..
